Classroom teachers spend an incredible amount of money out of pocket each year buying classroom supplies. Additionally, many of us have turned to Amazon for classroom items because it’s so easy to do. If you’re tired of spending your own money to enhance your classroom and curriculum, I highly suggest you check out the Amazon Wish List feature. This is quickly becoming a game changer for teachers across the globe. I’ve already had parents purchase multiple items off my own Amazon Teacher Wish List. (Many other websites also offer wish lists and registries. Consider Target, Oriental Trading, or even GiftYou.)
Creating Your Amazon Teacher Wish List
You can easily create a Wish List by visiting the Accounts & Lists tab in the right-hand corner of the site. From there, click on Create a List to set up a new list specifically for your classroom. Once your list is created, go to the three dots on the right to manage your list. Here you can customize your list settings, including changing the mailing address to your school so you do not have to lug the items from home!
Adding Items to Your Amazon Teacher Wish List
Now it is time to go virtual shopping. As you browse Amazon, simply add items to your list by clicking the drop-down menu add to list, which is located on the bottom of the right-hand sidebar, underneath the Buy Now buttons. So fun and easy!
Some ideas for what to buy are carpet spots, classroom doorbells, dry-erase lap boards, a three-tier rolling cart, Sharpies, and Flair pens! For more great ideas, check out our School Supply Central.
How To Share Your Amazon Classroom Wish List
Once you have created your list, you can share it with your network by either pressing the Invite button at the top left or the Send List to Others link at the top right. You have the option of sending the list directly to email addresses or copying the link and pasting it wherever you want. Note: Some teachers are not allowed to ask students’ families to contribute to their lists, however, you can share it personally with your family and friends if they are willing to pitch in.
When you share, the list will change from private to shared, allowing only those with the link to see it. Setting the list to public allows anyone to donate items to your classroom, regardless of whether you sent the link or not. This is entirely up to you, depending on your comfort level. Either way, it is up to the gift fairy to add his or her name on the packing slip or to keep the donation anonymous.
Where To Share My Amazon Wish list
Where can you share? Consider Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn. Try using hashtags on your social posts such as #clearthelist2023, #clearthelist, and #PostForPencils. If it’s allowed, share the list in your classroom or school newsletter. Send emails or messages via your parent communication app. Sometimes PTAs or local community groups purchase items from teacher wish lists, so it’s worth checking. We offer this free image to use.
